How long is a sheep pregnant?
Sheep are pregnant for about 147 days, just under five months. Most ewes lamb between day 142 and day 152. Breed matters a little: some early-maturing and prolific breeds lamb toward the shorter end, and some fine-wool breeds a few days longer.
If the ram ran with the ewes for a whole cycle, lambing will be spread over two or three weeks. A raddle (marking crayon) on the ram, changed in colour every 17 days or so, tells you which ewes are due when.
